
In high school basketball Thursday night:
In boys’ action:
-Izard County fell at home to Greers Ferry West Side 78-63. The Cougars’ Gunner Gleghorn exploded for 40 points, and Denton Reiley added 12. Izard County falls to 8-6 on the season.
-Mountain View was knocked off by Pangburn 37-35. The Yellowjackets are now 6-4.
In girls’ games:
-Norfork got past Rural Special 46-38 to improve to 13-3 on the season.
-Viola was edged out by Thayer 45-41 at the Battle of the Border Tournament at Mammoth Spring. In the other game, the host Lady Bears improved to 13-4 with a 61-38 victory over Willow Springs. Brynn Washam led the way with 17 points, Megyn Upton had 15, Sara Crowe scored 13, and Tay Davis had 12.
-Izard County lost to Greers Ferry Westside 66-32. Katie Orf had 14 for the Lady Cougars. In the junior girls’ contest, Izard County was a 58-47 winner to improve to 12-1. Makensie Yancy scored 22 points, while Quinn Johnson had 20.
