Friday basketball results include Flippin girls routing Ark. Arts Academy

The Flippin High School girls’ basketball team had an easy win Friday in Rogers. The Lady Bobcats breezed past the Arkansas Arts Academy 71-7.

Yellville-Summit’s boys had a rough night in front of the home crowd. The Panthers fell to Eureka Springs 59-21.

Viola ended up getting swept by Greers Ferry West Side.
The Lady Longhorns lost to the Lady Eagles 46-41. A.J. McCandlis was Viola’s top scorer with 16 points, and Taylor Sherrill added 10. The Lady Longhorns fall to 15-15 on the year and 10-6 in the 1A-2, and their first game in the 1A-2 District Tournament at Shirley will be Monday against the host Lady Blue Devils.
Viola did not fare any better in the boys’ game. The Longhorns fell to West Side 61-48.

Izard County had mixed results with White County Central.
The Cougars topped the Bears 56-50 in the boys’ contest and extended their win streak to seven games. Gunner Gleghorn paced Izard County with 18 points, and Denton Reiley and Jude Everett chipped in 14 each. The Cougars improve to 20-11 on the season.
Izard County lost the girls’ game 56-41 to White County Central. The Lady Cougars were led by Ava Lewis with 22 points, and Katie Orf scored 10.

Mammoth Spring came away with a split against Cedar Ridge.
The Bears needed overtime in the boys’ game, but they were able to get past the Timberwolves 66-64. Gavin Boddie was Mammoth Spring’s leading scorer with 23 points, Nate Rogers had 13, and Brayden Cray provided 11. The Bears are now 17-14 on the year, and they’ll play Hillcrest Tuesday in the 1A-3 District Tournament.
Mammoth Spring was not as fortunate in the girls’ contest, as they were edged out by Cedar Ridge 54-53. Brynn Washam led the Lady Bears with 20 points, and Sara Crowe finished with 12. Mammoth Spring’s record drops to 23-7, and their first district tournament game will be Thursday against either Marked Tree or Armorel.

Friday was a tough night for Melbourne’s boys. The Bearkatz fell to Sloan-Hendrix 62-45.

The Marshall boys were able to get a win on the road. The Bobcats squeaked by Maumelle Charter 67-65.

Mountain View’s boys suffered a loss on their home court. The Yellowjackets were beaten by Cave City 51-46.
