Hollywood RecordsNot only was the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie a huge success, it yielded a hugely successful and chart-topping soundtrack that was packed with pop and rock hits from the 1970s. With the hotly anticipated sequel to the 2014 intergalactic superhero flick set to hit theaters on May 5, director James Gunn has exclusively unveiled the track list of the new film’s soundtrack — due out this Friday — at RollingStone.com.

Like its predecessor, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 features pop and rock hits from the 1970s, while the new album also digs back to the ’60s for a couple of additional gems. Songs include Electric Light Orchestra‘s “Mr. Blue Sky,” Fleetwood Mac‘s “The Chain,” George Harrison‘s “My Sweet Lord,” Sweet‘s “Fox on the Run,” Glen Campbell‘s “Southern Nights,” Cat Stevens‘ “Father and Son,” and one-hit wonder Looking Glass‘s “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl).” The album also features Parliament‘s funk classic, “Flashlight.”

The 1960s are represented by Sam Cooke‘s “Bring It On Home to Me” and Jay and the Americans‘ “Come a Little Bit Closer.”

Interestingly, Gunn tells Rolling Stone that all of Fleetwood Mac’s members watched the scene featuring “The Chain” before they gave their approval to use the tune.
