Winter weather causes power outages to several area residents

The winter precipitation falling in the Twin Lakes Area has knocked out power to several area residents.

As of 4:20 Wednesday morning, North Arkansas Electric Cooperative was reporting outages to 23,222 of its members. Baxter County has the majority of the outages at 10,659. There were also outages to 597 members in Marion County, 2,637 in Fulton County, 5,370 in Izard County and all 191 members in Stone County. At 9:45 Tuesday night, the cooperative reported trees on lines in the Pineville area. Nearly a half-hour later, NAEC said area members were seeing their power blink due to the snow accumulation on the lines.

Several area customers of Entergy Arkansas were also without power. The count at 4:15 included 907  in Baxter County, 5,901 in Marion County, 1,650 in Izard County, 1,370 in Searcy County, 8,210 in Stone County, 6,237 in Boone County and 148 in Newton County.

Additional outages have been reported to a portion of the members of White River Valley Electric Cooperative. The tally includes the lone member in Baxter County, 44 in Marion County, 652 in Ozark County, 20 in Boone County, 1,174 in Taney County and 199 in Douglas County.
