
Arkansas State University-Mountain Home’s baseball team had mixed results on Monday as they split a doubleheader with Hendrix College.
The Trailblazers dominated the Warriors 13-2 in the opener. John White was on the mound for ASU-Mountain Home for two innings with one strikeout, one hit and two runs, and defense didn’t commit an error. Josh Prinner led the Blazers by going 3-for-3 and got ASU-Mountain Home on the board with a two-run double in the first inning. Jackson Down also had multiple hits in the game, including a solo home run in the first, and he drove in another run in the fourth. Sammy Lemond and Joesph Hardin also had multiple hits, and they joined Down and Easton Reichired in providing RBIs in that five-run fourth inning.
The Blazers did not fare as well in the late game as they were edged out by Hendrix 5-4. Nate Freeman was on the mound for ASU-Mountain Home as he allowed one hit and two runs over 1 1/3 innings. Lakin Woods, Josh Nicholson, Drew Hatman and Darren Wood each entered the game as relief, throwing 2 2/3 innings, two innings, 1/3 of an inning and 1/3 of an inning respectively. Devin Qualls led the Blazer offense with two hits, including a home run in the sixth inning, Breck Burris added two hits, and Logen Walker stole two bases. Qualls and Alex Harrel each had RBIs during the three-run third inning.
