Mountain Home Christian Academy (MHCA) has announced Doyne Byrd as the new administrator to lead the private school, following the retirement of former administrator, Mike Cully. For the past seven years, Byrd has served as the high school principal for the Bakersfield Public School District and recently retired from public education after 30 years of service.

Byrd states, “I’m very excited to be a small part of the MHCA family as we partner with parents to develop students with Christ-like values while providing a top-quality education.”

A native of Mountain Home, Byrd graduated from Mountain Home Public Schools and received a bachelor’s degree from Harding University while serving in the United States Marine Corp Reserve. He earned his master’s degree from William Woods University. In addition to administration, Byrd has held positions in teaching, coaching and athletic directorships during his career. He has worked in Cotter, Gainesville, and Bakersfield school districts.

Byrd has been married to his wife, Margaret, for 33 years and have two adult sons. Currently a member of Real Life Church, Byrd served as an interim Pastor for First Christian Church/Resurrection Church for several years. He and Margaret spend their free time outdoors, biking, hiking, and kayaking.

Roz Blagg, former Board of Directors Vice-President, and current Advisory Board Committee member, says “Doyne is a strong Christian leader, who has years of experience in education as a coach, teacher, and administrator. What a blessing that his desire is to continue his service to God and his service to youth by moving into Christian school administration at MHCA! He is a strong advocate for children and for teachers and his long-time love for Christ will ensure that MHCA continues to nurture the spiritual and academic growth of future Christian leaders.”

Byrd’s first official day at Mountain Home Christian Academy is July 1.
