The Arkansas Activities Association has released the classification numbers to take effect beginning in August 2024, and there will be some changes to affect a few area high school teams.

While none of the area football teams will change classes, Mountain Home will notice at least one difference in conference play when the new two-year cycle begins. Greenbrier is currently one of the Bombers’ foes in the 6A-West, but they are set to drop back down to Class 5A.

Mountain Home will also see changes in the fall of 2024 for other sports, though it is unclear how many. The Bombers and Lady Bombers are currently in the 5A-West for every sport except football and wrestling. One school expected to be a newcomer in the conference is Farmington, who is moving up from Class 4A.

Two other area high schools will be in new territory for other sports in the upcoming cycle. Yellville-Summit will move up from Class 2A to Class 3A, and Mammoth Spring will jump from Class 1A to Class 2A.

The classification alignments are set to run from the fall of 2024 through the spring of 2026. The AAA is expected to announce the conference alignments after each sport concludes its upcoming season.
