
Brad Heinsohn and Isaac Gaston were able to win the 12th-annual Veterans Golf Tournament Sunday at Twin Lakes Golf Course. Heinshon and Gaston combined for a seven-under-par 63 to captured the men’s first flight of the tournament co-sponsored by the ELKS Lodge #1714 and the Back Forty Restaurant.
Shayne Rorie and Zach Abies ended up one shot off the lead to finish second, and Eric Soeken and Jessie Schefdore were third with a 66.
A tiebreaker was needed to decide the second flight after two teams shot a 73. AJ Morris and Brenndon Calhoun won the card-off over Cory Dicks and Evan Mickelson. Scott Ramos and David Thompson ended up third at one stroke back.
Keith Lewis and Dick Carney took the tiebreaking card-off in the third flight over Ben Woody and Mike Johnson after both teams had an 81. Regan Curnutt and Jimmy Clifford won the tiebreaker for third place.
Trevor Himschoot and A.J. McCandlis won the mixed flight over Scott and Lorel Koplin. John Crouch and Gail Hillyard finished third.
Scott Koplin was the closest to the pin on the drive on Hole 2 at 7 1/2 feet, and Lorel Koplin had the longest put on Hole 7 at 12 1/2 feet. The prizes for the closest to the squiggly line on Hole 12 went to Wesley Wenner on the men’s side and Gail Alter on the women’s side. The longest drives on Hole 18 were completed by Troy Hodnet on the men’s side and McCandlis on the women’s side.
