TN man arrested for stealing merchandise from Mountain Home business

A Tennessee man is facing multiple burglary charges after he allegedly stole merchandise from a local business.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on June 22, a report was filed with the Mountain Home Police Department (MHPD) regarding two individuals stealing merchandise from a business.

The complainant reported on four occasions one of the suspects, 43-year-old Charles Hamilton of Knoxville, TN., had allegedly “tag swapped” merchandise. On June 22, Hamilton swapped $573 worth of merchandise, totaling $7.38. On June 24, he swapped $395.95 worth of items totaling $4.16 and walked out of the business with $419.88 worth of unpaid merchandise. On July 1, Hamilton left the business with $65.81 worth of merchandise before being apprehended by the store’s Loss Prevention associates and MHPD officer. In total, Hamilton had stolen over $1,300 worth of merchandise.

Officers executed a search warrant on July 7 on a U-Haul Hamilton had rented where several items were located.

Hamilton is facing four felony counts of commercial burglary and one misdemeanor count of theft of property. He is currently being held in the Baxter County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.
