
Yellville-Summit’s football team was able to dominate its season opener in Little Rock. The Panthers beat up on Baptist Prep by a final of 44-20. Yellville-Summit starts the season at 1-0, and they’ll travel to Coal Hill next week to meet Johnson County Westside.
Salem was able to invoke the mercy rule as they started the year in front of the home crowd. The Greyhounds routed Earle by a score of 48-6. Salem begins the campaign at 1-0, and they’ll wrap up their home stand next week against Thayer.
Melbourne’s season began with a tough road trip. The Bearkatz were doubled up by Bald Knob 32-16. Melbourne falls to 0-1 on the year, and they’ll face Lonoke in their home opener next Friday.
Harrison’s season opener went down to the wire. The Goblins were able to edge out Springdale 24-20 at F.S. Garrison Stadium. Harrison improves to 1-0 on the season.
On the eight-man level, Izard County began its defense of last year’s state championship with an easy win. The Cougars went to Newark and pounded Cedar Ridge 52-22. Izard County’s record is 1-0, and they’ll host Corning next week.
