
A total of 13 teams will be competing in this week’s state tournaments for baseball, softball and soccer when they get underway Thursday.
The Mountain Home High School baseball team will be in Harrison for one of the opening games of the Class 5A State Tournament. The Bombers’ opening opponent will be Lake Hamilton. Mountain Home enters the tournament as the fourth-seeded team from the 5A-West. The Wolves are the champions of the 5A-South. The first pitch is scheduled for Thursday morning at 10.
Two area baseball teams will square off in the opening round of the Class 1A State Tournament to be hosted by Greers Ferry West Side. Norfork will meet Jasper Thursday at 12:30.
The Mountain Home High School softball team will start its run in the Class 5A State Tournament hosted by Harrison on Thursday. The Lady Bombers’ first opponent will be Texarkana. Mountain Home is the No. 3 seed from the 5A-West. The Lady Razorbacks are the runners-up of the 5A-South. The first pitch at is scheduled for 5:30.
Cotter will compete in the Class 2A State Softball Tournament hosted by Palestine-Wheatley on Thursday. The Lady Warriors face Rison at 3.
Three area softball teams will be in the Class 1A State Tournament hosted by Greers Ferry West Side. Lead Hill gets underway with Concord at 10, Viola takes on Scranton at 3, and Jasper plays Shirley at 5:30.
Three area schools will send their softball teams to Majestic Park in Hot Springs Thursday for the opening day of the Class 3A State Tournament. On Field 2, Valley Springs will be paired with Harding Academy at 12:30, and Salem meets Genoa Central at 3. Melbourne faces Fouke at 5:30 on Field 1.
The Mountain View boys’ soccer team will be at the Anstaff Soccer Complex in Harrison for its first game in the Class 3A State Tournament hosted by Bergman. The Yellowjackets take on LISA Academy North Thursday at 11.
The Harrison girls’ soccer team will take part in the Class 5A State Tournament hosted by Lakeside High School in Hot Springs. The Lady Goblins play El Dorado Thursday at 2.
