Firefighters from the Mark Twain National Forest are actively responding to a wildfire along the Glade Top Trail, about 12 miles southwest of Ava. Named the “Sugar Fire,” it was reported Monday evening and is burning in heavy cedar and timber litter.Visibility for drivers is expected to be limited along Glade Top Trail due to smoke, which could linger in the area for several days. Cody Lunsford, District Ranger for Ava, Cassville, and Willow Springs, says a strong firefighting response is underway but urges the public to avoid the area and consider alternate routes for safety.
