
A few area high school basketball teams were in district tournament action on Friday.
The 3A-2 District Tournament held its semifinal round at Melbourne.
Flippin’s boys were eliminated from the tournament in the last game of the night. The Bobcats fell to the host Bearkatz 55-37.
Melbourne’s opponent in the championship game will be Bergman. Mountain View lost to the Panthers 68-41.
The Salem girls had a rough outing in the first game of the day. The Lady Greyhounds fell to Mountain View 57-37.
The Lady Yellowjackets’ last opponent in the tournament will be Bergman. Melbourne lost to the Lady Panthers 61-50.
Both of Izard County’s teams were victorious in the semifinals of the 2A-2 District Tournament at Tuckerman.
The Lady Cougars began the day with a 64-58 win over Marshall. Makensie Yancey led Izard County with 20 points, Quinn Johnson scored 19, and Olivia Spray added 12. The Lady Cougars improve to 24-4 on the season.
The Izard County boys followed by getting past Sloan-Hendrix 49-45. The Cougars were led by Cash Arnhart with 18 points, Gabe Spray had 11, and Benjamin Tuschak chipped in 10. Izard County is now 22-9 on the year.
