The Mountain Home High School girls will be among the area basketball teams playing on Friday and looking to continue their season further on. The Lady Bombers return to Greene County Tech High School in Paragould to face Nettleton in the quarterfinals of the Class 5A State Tournament.
Mountain Home is currently 25-6 on the season following their overtime win over Little Rock Christian in the first round on Wednesday. Nettleton defeated Hot Springs Lakeside in their opener on Tuesday to improve to 19-12.
This is the second meeting between these two teams this season. The Lady Bombers got past the Lady Raiders 56-51 on Dec. 17, and Mountain Home head coach Dell Leonard says he doesn’t expect the rematch to be any easier.

Izard County’s girls will be back at Cedar Ridge High School in Newark for their quarterfinal game in the Class 2A State Tournament. The Lady Cougars meet Poyen at 4.

Three area teams will play their quarterfinal games in the Class 3A State Tournament on the south campus of North Arkansas College in Harrison. The Melbourne boys take on Prescott at 2:30. On the girls’ side, Melbourne plays Dover at 4, and Mountain View will be paired with Dumas at 7.

Jasper’s girls return to Trumann for the quarterfinals of the Class 1A State Tournament. The Lady Pirates meet Marked Tree at 4.

In Missouri, a state tournament bid is on the line for the Forsyth boys as they return to Logan-Rogersville High School for the championship game of the Class 4, District 11 Tournament. The Panthers face the host Wildcats at 6.
