A Searcy County man has gathered several charges after he picked up an underage male teen to give him a ride and made unwanted advances, threatened to kill them both when those advances were turned down, attempted to hit him with his car when the teen got out and then earned more charges when police searched his phone during the investigation and found child pornography. Forty-three-year-old Joshua Dale Farris of Marshall is facing four felonies in the cases.

According to the probable cause affidavits from the Marshall Police Department, the victim told officers he was walking home from his girlfriend’s house when Farris offered him a ride. While driving, Farris touched the victim inappropriately and the victim pushed Farris’s hand away. At that point, Farris sped up and said he was going to kill them both. Farris eventually dropped the victim off at his residence, but the victim said when he did, he had to jump out of the way because Farris tried to hit him with his vehicle.

During the investigation, it was learned the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office had received a report of an incident from three days earlier where a male juvenile had been offered $50 to get into a vehicle with a man believed to be Farris.

Also during the investigation, police obtained a search warrant for Farris’s cell phones. The search found numerous videos and pictures of child pornography.

Farris is facing felony charges of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexual conduct involving a child; attempted second degree sexual assault; first degree terroristic threatening; and aggravated assault. He is being held in the Searcy County Jail without bond due to a bond revocation from a previous case.

Farris has three previous felony arrests, all drug cases.
