With the City of Mountain Home’s curbside recycling program officially ending Monday, residents now face a decision: what to do with the recycling bins left behind?

Beginning July 11, Waste Connections will start removing recycling totes-but only for customers who request it. Those who want their bin picked up must call Waste Connections at 870-481-8600. Bins left curbside without prior notice will not be collected.

Residents who wish to continue recycling on their own can keep the bin for personal use. It can be used to store recyclables for drop-off at the Mountain Home Recycling Center on Rossi Road at the resident’s discretion.

Alternatively, the bin can be repurposed as a second trash can. To do so, customers must contact Waste Connections to have the additional service added to their account. Only designated homes will have multiple bins collected, and the sanitation fee will reflect the change.

As a result of the recycling program’s end, all Mountain Home Water Department customers who were previously charged for curbside recycling will see a reduction on their water bill under the sanitation line from $24.12 to $22.45 monthly. Those who choose to convert their recycling bin to a second trash bin will instead pay a new total of $27.94 per month for sanitation.

These changes will take effect on the August water bill.

Residents with questions about removal, conversion, or billing are encouraged to contact Waste Connections directly at 870-481-8600. Billing questions can be directed to the Mountain Home Water Department at 870-425-5115.
