Authorities are searching for a man who went missing Friday night on the White River near the Stone and Independence County line.
Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens said a call came in around 9:30 p.m. on July 4 reporting the disappearance of a man near York Island. The man was last seen after entering the river from a boat while shooting fireworks, according to Independence County Judge Kevin Jeffrey.
Multiple agencies are assisting in the search, including the Independence and Stone County Sheriff’s Offices, Melrose Fire Department, Bethesda Fire Department, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and local volunteers.
The man’s identity has not been released.
