Lonoke aquaculturist named to AGFC

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has appointed Jamie Anderson of Lonoke to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, the governor’s office announced Wednesday.Anderson, vice president of I.F. Anderson Farms Inc., will serve a seven-year term on the seven-member commission, replacing J.D. Neeley of Camden. Neeley’s term expired June 30.

I.F. Anderson Farms, also known as Anderson Minnow Farm, is the world’s largest producer of minnows. The farm, founded in 1949, operates on 3,400 surface acres and produces more than 1 billion baitfish annually. The company ships live fish to more than 40 states.

Anderson began working on the family farm at age 12. He holds a master’s degree in agricultural business from the University of Arkansas and has been active in state and national aquaculture organizations. He serves as vice president of the National Aquaculture Association and chairman of the Arkansas Farm Bureau’s Aquaculture Committee. He also sits on the boards of the Arkansas Bait and Ornamental Fish Growers Association and Lonoke County Farm Bureau, and is a member of the National Wildlife Services Advisory Committee.

Anderson is also a founding member of the Arkansas Waterfowl Association, a nonprofit that promotes outdoor education among underserved youth.

His appointment to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission runs through June 30, 2032.
