Another registered sex offender has been arrested for failing to comply with registration and reporting requirements in Baxter County.Deputy Tanner Anderson received information Monday that a level 3 sex offender, 54 year old Stephen Rey Groat of Mountain Home, was working at a business in Mountain Home but had not informed the Sheriff’s Office of his employment status as required by law. Groat had last had his status checked by the Sheriff’s Office on January 28, 2025 at which time he indicated he was unemployed.
After being informed that Groat was now working, Deputy Anderson contacted with the business owner and confirmed that Groat had been working at the business since last month. He had failed to disclose to the business owner that he was a level 3 sex offender. It was also determined that Groat has social media accounts (Snapchat and Instagram) linked to his email account that he had never reported to the Sheriff’s Office.
Groat was arrested Monday and transported to the Baxter County Detention Center where he was booked on a charge of:
Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration and Reporting – Felony
Groat is being held on $15,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear before the Circuit Court on July 21.
