
A Mountain Home man has been named the Arkansas Game Warden of the Year. David Foret, who is assigned to Baxter County, was officially awarded the Arkansas Game & Fish Commissions 2025 Sgt. Monty Carmikle Arkansas Game Warden of the Year Award at a ceremony last week in Little Rock. Foret was one of 12 district game wardens from around the state nominated for the award. Foret represented District B-1 which includes Baxter, Marion, Izard, Stone, Searcy and Van Buren counties.Foret is a 2004 graduate of Norfork High School and spent 20 years in the Air Force and Air Force National Guard and started working for the game and fish about five and a half years ago.There were two events, both which started when he was off duty, which helped him with the award.
One was earlier this year when he and his brother were hunting on brothers property in Salesville/Briarcliff area.

The second occurred when Foret was fishing on Norfork Lake one day this spring.

The 38-year-old Foret started his career with the game and fish in Lincoln County, was then transferred to Lonoke County before coming home to Baxter County in April of 2024. He says being a game warden is something he has always wanted to do.

Foret says most game wardens are avid hunters and anglers, and many cases begin from things they see or hear while in the field on their “off time.”
Foret is married and has two sons.
