A Fulton County man, 31-year-old Blake Martin, is being held in the Fulton County jail after he allegedly tried to run a vehicle off the road with his car and fled from police. He later fought with an officer, sticking his fingers in his eyes, while yelling at his wife to film the altercation.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a caller to Fulton County dispatch Saturday evening reported an erratic driver attempting to run the driver off the road on several occasions. The suspect’s car would reportedly pull alongside the caller’s vehicle and attempt to force it off the roadway, then pass it and turn off its headlights.

At one point, the suspect’s vehicle pulled in front of the victim’s and blocked the roadway.

The victim was able to get around the blocking vehicle and flee, reaching speeds between 85 and 90 miles per hour, with the suspect’s car, with its headlights off, on the bumper of the vehicle being pursued.

An officer with the Salem Police Department attempted to pull over the suspect’s vehicle, but the driver, later identified as Martin, sped away holding his middle finger out of the window as he was fleeing.

Martin continued on before pulling into the driveway of his residence, where he immediately stepped inside his residence and reportedly began cursing and yelling profanity at the officer.

An officer from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office arrived to assist.

When Martin’s wife pulled into the driveway, he opened the garage door. The Salem officer stepped in front of Martin, and he allegedly pushed the policeman inside his garage.

The two fought for several minutes, with Martin yelling at his wife to film the altercation.

When the officer attempted to handcuff Martin, the Fulton County man grabbed the cuffs, attempted to pull away and kick.

During the fight, Martin put his fingers in the officer’s eyes, yelling he was going to poke them out, while spitting in his face.

A third officer arrived, and Martin was cuffed. However, with his legs free, he was able to kick officers in the chest and attempted to bite Fulton County Sheriff Al Roork. When pepper spray was applied, Martin began to cooperate.

He has been charged with two counts of battery, one count of aggravated assault on a corrections/law enforcement officer, four counts of aggravated assault, all felonies, as well as misdemeanor counts of fleeing, driving while intoxicated, disorderly conduct, refusal to submit to chemical test, resisting arrest and careless prohibited driving.

His bond has been set at $100,000.

Martin is also facing 10 charges in an open case stemming from an incident in May in which he allegedly used four children as a shield to elude officers.
