Arkansas-based casinos are expanding their reach in sports betting through new partnerships with national companies.

Oaklawn Casino in Hot Springs and Southland Casino in West Memphis have launched updated sports betting apps in collaboration with FanDuel and DraftKings, respectively. The partnerships were announced Friday, with new platforms already being promoted online.

“It’s really, really exciting,” said Oaklawn Vice President of Racing and Wagering Zack Gillham.

Oaklawn’s new app, branded as Oaklawn Sports FanDuel, replaces its previous platform with a more streamlined system. Gillham said the partnership simplifies operations by reducing the number of vendors involved.

“Now when we want to make changes, we don’t have to have as many people involved,” he said.

Southland has also upgraded its platform through a partnership with DraftKings. Company officials say the new app offers a more user-friendly experience.

“This one is probably the easiest to navigate to find what you’re looking for,” said DraftKings Director of Race and Sports Operations Johnny Avello.

Both companies are offering promotions to attract new users, including incentives tied to betting on Arkansas teams.

Not everyone is on board with the changes. Saracen Casino in Pine Bluff raised concerns in a statement, arguing that local operators contribute millions in gaming taxes to the state, while national companies may not provide the same level of support.
