Baxter County 911 Dispatch will observe National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week through Saturday. The week serves as an opportunity to recognize the critical role dispatchers play in emergency response and public safety.
The week recognizes dispatchers who serve as the first point of contact during emergencies, providing guidance and coordinating responses for law enforcement, fire and medical calls.
The dispatch center handles more than 40,000 calls each year and is staffed by 15 county dispatchers who provide 24/7 coverage and support for 19 fire departments and five police departments across the county.
As part of the observance, the department is inviting community members and local businesses to stop by, meet dispatch staff and show appreciation for their work. Donations such as snacks, meals or other small tokens of support are also being accepted.
Baxter County 911 Dispatch is located at 815 Highway 62 West in Mountain Home and can be contacted by phone at 870-580-9413 or by email at 911coordinator@baxtercountyar.gov.
