A Mountain Home man accused of making obscene remarks to females and harassing others on the parking lot of the midtown Harps appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court/Criminal Division Monday May 11.

Forty-five-year-old Michael Ford entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him.

On April 26, a Mountain Home Police Department officer responded to the Harps store and was told that 45-year-old Michael Ford had been riding a bicycle through the parking lot and harassing various people.

He was located at the Casey’s General Store across the highway from the Harps store. The officer verified that Ford had an active search waiver on file, permitting warrantless searches of his person and property.

The search yielded two small bags containing a substance field testing positive for methamphetamine. The drug was found inside bubble wrap in one of Ford’s pockets.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the combined weight of the substance was 2.3 grams.

OLDER CASE

The new charge triggered the filing of a petition to revoke Ford’s probation in a 2024 drug case.

According to the probable cause affidavit in the older case, a Mountain Home police officer saw Ford on a bicycle riding down Coley Drive in late February 2024.

The officer reported having knowledge of an active arrest warrant on Ford. When the officer got behind the bicycle and activated his blue emergency lights, Ford was reported to have ridden away even after being told to stop.
The officer’s threat to use a stun gun ended the attempt to flee.

A search yielded a small plastic bag containing about 2.4 grams of a white crystalline substance that Ford was said to have admitted was methamphetamine.

In late June 2024, Ford was sentenced to 72 months probation.
