In small communities, it’s important to offer places for kids and families to gather for fun, for exercise, and for social interaction.  After the Cotter school burned down in the 70’s, only the old gymnasium remained, built between 1936 and 1938.  The community needed a place where the youth of the area could gather for good, wholesome fun, and decided to try to renovate the old gym.

Now known as the North Arkansas Youth Center, it’s listed on the National Register of Historic places, and is a very important part of the Cotter community.  Their after-school program, pickleball tournaments, and movie nights would be sorely missed if they had to stop, so consider helping with a donation to the North Arkansas youth Center!

Preserving the historical integrity of the old Cotter school gym while offering a safe place for the children and adults of our area to gather for exercise, fun, and educational programs…that’s the mission statement of the North Arkansas Youth Center on Powell Avenue in Cotter. Their grand opening in March of 1996 featured a dedication speech from then-Governor Mike Huckabee, and they’ve been a vital part of the community that relies on donations to continue.

Check out their Facebook page for more information, and consider volunteering your time or making a donation to keep the Youth Center thriving in Cotter!  Our Community Cares, sponsored by Integrity First Bank, KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot, salute the North Arkansas Youth Center!
