Bomber baseball rallies late to beat Southside Mavericks

The Mountain Home Bombers scored two late runs to pick up a 4-2 victory over the Southside Mavericks on Monday.

The game was tied at two in the sixth inning when Rowan Askew delivered a go-ahead single that scored two runs.

Brody Brown started on the mound for the Bombers and allowed one hit over three scoreless innings while striking out three. Carter Adkins added two scoreless innings in relief with two strikeouts.

Jax Wescoat and Brown each collected two hits for Mountain Home, while Askew drove in two runs.

The Bombers also turned a double play and played error-free defense in the win.

Mountain Home earned the No. 3 seed from the 5A West and will open play in the Class 5A State Baseball Tournament Thursday. The Bombers will travel to face Greene County Tech, the No. 2 seed and host school from the 5A East, at 5:30.
