The Arkansas State Red Wolves men’s golf made program history Wednesday by qualifying for the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship for the first time.

The Red Wolves finished tied for fourth at the NCAA Marana Regional in Arizona with a 54-hole score of 24-under-par 840, securing one of the advancing spots to the national championship.

Head coach Mike Hagen called the accomplishment a defining moment for the program and praised the team’s depth and consistency throughout the regional tournament.

Jake Lile led Arkansas State with a 7-under-par total of 209 to tie for 14th individually. Thomas Schmidt finished 21st at 5-under, while Cole Kirby tied for 31st at 1-under.

The Red Wolves finished one shot ahead of Alabama Crimson Tide men’s golf for the final qualifying spot and ahead of Clemson Tigers men’s golf in the standings.

Arkansas State’s 24-under-par finish also set a program record for lowest score at an NCAA Regional.

The NCAA Men’s Golf Championship begins May 29 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California.
