Earthquake recorded near Baxter/Marion county line

A minor earthquake was recorded early Thursday morning on the south end of the Baxter/Marion county line. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was Magnitude 3.7 on the Richter Scale.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located nearly 8 1/2 miles north of Big Flat, 12 miles south-southeast of Gassville, 14 1/2 miles south of Mountain Home and 39 1/2 miles east-southeast of Harrison. The quake occurred at 1:42 a.m.

Reports have been received from citizens across North Central Arkansas and Southern Missouri who reported feeling the quake.  No damage or injuries have been reported.

Magnitude 3.7 earthquakes are often felt by people, but they rarely cause damage. Shaking of indoor objects can sometimes be noticeable.
