
The Cotter High School Lady Warriors are headed to the state tournament after a dramatic regional championship victory over Hector.
Cotter secured the regional title on a walk-off home run by Maya McNutt, KTLO’s Jesse Zurcher spoke with Head Coach for the Lady Warriors, Jarod Jefferson, who recounts the final innings.
Jefferson praised McNutt’s work ethic following the win, calling her one of the hardest-working athletes he has coached.
Cotter now advances to the state tournament where the Lady Warriors will face McCrory.
Jefferson said his team is battle-tested after playing several close games against strong competition heading into postseason play. He added that Cotter’s ability to win tight contests has helped build confidence for the state tournament run.
The Lady Warriors also set a new program record for wins this season with 22. They will face McCrory at Palestine-Wheatley High School Thursday at 12:30.
